What is OSCAR?
The no-cost, or low-cost, open source approach is intended to enlist
a large cross section of of health care users and developers. By enlisting
this group of users and developers we can enhance the OSCAR system on
an ongoing basis. Any developments you make to OSCAR must be contributed
back to the pool of OSCAR resources.
What is OSCAR's objective?
OSCAR's objective is to offer a "royalty free" set of Clinic Applications
and Clinic Resources for use by health care providers and clinics in
Ontario and everywhere. How much will OSCAR cost? OSCAR is developed
using open source tools, which are free of royalties. There is no purchase
cost, no license fees, no user fees, etc. Users only pay for their own
clinic's equipment, desired customizations and the support they need.
Is OSCAR secure?
Yes. OSCAR is:
- Peer-reviewed software development & quality control
- SSL to protect transport - even within a clinic
- User Name/Password-3 attempts lockout
- Remote access requires a second level authentication
- Intruders & remote access monitoring
- Encrypted database backup - local & off-site
Is there an audit trail in OSCAR?
Yes, OSCAR has a audit trail of eveyone who has logged into your system.
