OSCARSERVICE offers different solutions with an OSCAR application suite for doctors and clinics. 2. Demonstrations & Workshops

We offer on-site demonstrations as well as remote demonstrations on OSCAR EMR software. This technology makes it easier for us to talk and show you our exciting product even we are not in the same city! 3. OSCAR Installations

1.1 On-Site Installation Package

Ideal for clinic wanting focus on their practice and a quick implementation of OSCAR, full support for bug free system, high quality training, an existing database (other EMR) to convert to OSCAR. We offer on-site assessment, office networking/hardware deployment for OSCAR, on-site installation and configuration software for electronic and paperless office, on-site training and full support.

1.2 Remote Installation Package

Ideal for a "techie" doctor or clinic with IT support, with or without an existing database (other EMR) to convert to OSCAR, we offer on-site training or remote training, and full technical support for OSCAR EMR system.

1.3 Self-Installation Package

Ideal for new graduates who only require a scheduling or billing system, and are willing to take the responsibility to install, use and support by themselves. We also offer remote training and technical support for those who have installed by themselves using our Live Installation Disk from our download page.

 

4. Data Migration

There are more than 15 OntarioMD certified EMR products on the market now. Data migration will be the first thing you might want to put on your to-consider list before you decide anything. You don't want your staff to manually input theschedule again!

We have helped our clients successfully transfer their patient data from different EMR products (York-Med,Clinicare, P&P, Practice Solutions, Healthscreen, Nightingale) which include patient demographics, doctor info, referral doctor list, specialist list, appointments, etc. We also have  experience with migrating patient medical records for doctors who have worked for other OSCAR clinics and opened their own practices with OSCAR.

5. Lab Integration

OSCAR supports lots of HL7 based lab intergrations. We will help clients to setup the interface between the lab vendors and OSCAR, so that the test results from lab vendors will be automatically uploaded to OSCAR. This will both save you time and be green!

6. Ongoing Support

When dealing with patient medical records, we want to make sure the data is 100% safe, not 99%!


Think about these questions when you considering your data safety:

  • If the hardware crashed, eg: power supply, motherboard, hard driver, do you have a backup?
  • If the database crashed, how long can you be back to work?
  • Is your OSCAR server still healthy and has enough disk space to hold patient data?
  • If you cannot open a patient's profile while the patient is here, what will you do?
  • How can you make sure your backup server is working correctly?
  • If your billing was rejected by EDT for strange reasons, and you will miss the RA period, what will you do?
  • Labs have not come for 4 days, how do you know what's the problem?
  • OSCAR has new features released, how do you upgrade without damaging any data?

7. Staff Training

OSCARSERVICE offers the best training services. The training will cover all the sections of OSCAR, especially the billing . We have  flexible training plans for many scenarios. After training, doctors will know how to write and sign off a patient's encounter, receptionists will be experts on booking appointments and other regular work, office managers will know how to manage accounts while the biller takes care of the billing process.

8. Programming Customization

As the FIRST OSCAR company who works closely with the community, our company and our staff created lots of new features for our clients and contributed back to the OSCAR community. Here are some examples and screenshots:

 

 
General Function

New Ontario Billing Module

The new Ontario Billing module was first created in 2006, according to Ontario's billing specification. Lots of features were included like MAC billing, billing form management, billing code management, schedule fee upgrade, OHIP billing, private billing, billing simulation, OHIP claim file generation, etc. A group billing feature was added later in 2008, and there were lots of improvements including bugs fixed by other programmers from the great OSCAR community.

 

 

Specialist Favor

Consultation Report Module
OSCAR was initially built for family doctors, and the build-in consultation request system makes it very easy to request a consultation to the specialist.  But for the specialists, to send the consultation report back to the family doctor is not very handy. This project was initialized by Dr. Kim Rogers, an OB/GYN doctor and we created the consultation report module based on this story.

 

 

InboxManager Module

 General Function
OSCAR already has a helpful document management module, called "edoc". For a long time,  the "edoc" module hasn't been improved and some clinics want to swtich from paper to EMR. With 10 years patient's paper charts piled up, the new inbox manager makes the upload/category very fast and efficient, and big clinics will have one staff sit in front of the inbox management page to upload/category documents. This module was designed and initialized by Dr. Eric Tam, a very talented ophthalmology doctor 6 months  before he started his own practice! Inbox Management also changes the OSCAR file storage infrastructure which makes the backup and maintenance very easy. The new "edoc" will be exciting but inbox manager will still be existing as a separate module for people who like it.

 

 

Ophthalmology Encounter

 Specialist Favor
The ophthalmology package was also initialized by Dr. Eric Tam, an ophthalmology doctor and  was grown/supported by Toronto ophthalmology group. The current ophthalmology replaced the general OSCAR encounter and only has fields which are only useful for the ophthalmology doctors.  It also has the picture upload/ preview function. The whole package integrated seamlessly with the original OSCAR. This module was first created with the plugin framework, but will be merged into OSCAR and will remove the plugin framework so that it will benefit all specialists using OSCAR!

Extendable Appointment Status

Extendable appointment status was created for Dr. Ted Rabinovitch and his clinic who have lots of examination rooms.  The original appointment status was hard-coded into OSCAR and could not be extended, and the receptionists had to remember code like "t" means patients booked, "C" means patient cancelled, which caused lots of human input error and was difficult to use. With this add-on, now the status was by default extended to another 5 new statuses and can be extended to a maximum of 60! The receptionist does not need to remember any status codes any more.

Prescription Clone Function

The prescription copy/clone was raised by Dr. Bruno E. DiGravio, a paediatrician. He has interns every year and he spent lots of time monitoring his interns to write notes for the patients and prescribe drugs for them as welll. He already bookmarked lots of favourite prescriptions and his interns can use these and change them based on the existing selections. We created this module for him and commit it back to the OSCAR community. With this module, you can choose to share your favorite prescriptions, just like a shared folder, and other doctors who are in the same OSCAR system can choose to copy the shared prescriptions from other doctors.

 

 

Disease Registry Search Report Function

General Function
This feature was created in 2010 with AJAX technology for Dr. Sanjeev Goel, a family doctor. Users can type in a few words like disease code or a basic description of the disease to populate relative information, just like  a GOOGLE search! Users can select a group of disease codes or add  an individual code into the search criteria and get the result of detail information with patients who were registered with different diseases.  Right now, it supports an  ICD9 coding system and will support other coding systems in the future.

Mutiple Site Support Improvement

This will be a very useful feature for most clinics! Initialized by the Toronto ophthalmology doctor group in 2010, this module is still under development. It adds privacy features into OSCAR. The goal for this feature is to make OSCAR available for multi-site clinics and add a privacy wall between different doctors/groups. The clinic consists of individual or groups of doctors, each having their own individual or group of receptionists. Generally, there should be mutual exclusion of individual doctor practices within the clinic so that they only have access to their own group of patients. The doctors should be able to access all patient files within the clinic. Receptionists should have full access to patient records of ONLY the doctors that they are assigned  to. (Some exceptions may occur if another doctor is away and someone is covering.)

 

 

Lab Link

Med Health Lab Intergration & Auto Upload

Med Health lab is a Toronto based lab serving the medical lab test for 60 years, It has been intergrated with lots of different EMR vendors. The integration between OSCAR and Med Health Lab is initialized by Dr. Warqar Cheema in Brampton. Driven by the HL7 message standard, Patient's lab test result is very easily readable by OSCAR HL7 engineen. We successfully extended OSCAR lab ability to handle Med Health lab and made the lab file transfer fully automatically.
